On the sun-kissed shores of Carlsbad, I recently captured the beautiful Leslie family for their California coastline beach session. This family session was special for several reasons. It was about more than updating their family portraits, as this family is preparing for a cross country move at the end of summer to Nashville, Tennessee. What better way to remember this place they have called home for over two decades than with a final beach family session. I know this moment was a little bittersweet for the Leslie family, but I hope that the stunning images we captured on the beautiful coastline will always bring back fond memories of this season of life.
California Coastline Beach Session
Against the stunning backdrop of the California coastline, the Leslie family spent a beautiful evening together. The serene sand dunes and jetty were the perfect spot for their family portraits. Unlike many beach sessions, they decided to stay dry and away from the water, focusing instead on the beauty many overlook at the beach. Instead of splashing in the waves as most do, the Leslies utilized the dunes and jetty for a unique touch.
I loved watching this family interact with each other. There were so many sweet and tender moments filled with laughter or quiet moments of connection. The children, Logan and Ava, were so kind and well behaved. Capturing portraits of siblings together, no matter what age, is always my favorite. There is something incredibly special between siblings, and I love when that bond comes alive in front of the camera. Seeing the Leslie family hug, laugh, run, and twirl around in the sand while the sun glowed around them was a dream.
To end their session, the beautiful family of four walked out on the jetty rock to watch the epic sunset over the Pacific. It was the perfect ending to their session. I know leaving the west coast will be hard, but I am thrilled that they will have these beautiful family portraits to cherish and remember this place that holds countless memories.
