In the heart of Carlsbad, California, with vibrant cypress trees, a serene pond, and a garden of gorgeous blooms, I met the Adamson Family for their summer garden extended family session! This beautiful family gathered together for a reunion and wanted images to document this exciting moment. Leigh Adamson contacted me prior to the reunion asking if I could update family portraits of her lively crew of 18 that included eight children ranging from 1 to 12 years old and ten adults! They sought both large group shots and individual family mini sessions, which is something I absolutely love to do!
The Adamson family reunion was a vibrant celebration of love and togetherness. The family spanned generations, and it was heartwarming to see them all come together for this memorable occasion. The location was perfect! All the stunning natural landscapes provided several picture-perfect backdrops. However, the incredible rose garden and all the colorful flowers were my favorite.
Summer Garden Extended Family Session
One of the highlights of the session was the inclusion of individual family mini sessions. It allowed each smaller family within the larger group to have their moment in the spotlight. These sessions captured the essence of each family’s love, personality, and dynamics. Then everyone came together to capture larger group images – like all the cousins together, the grandparents with their 8 grandchildren, and the whole family. The entire group was so much fun to work with and had amazing, fun personalities.
Extended family sessions, like the one with the Adamsons, hold a special place in my heart. While it may seem chaotic at times, it’s in the midst of this organized chaos that we find the most genuine and authentic moments. The laughter of cousins playing together, the smiles exchanged between generations, and the love that fills the air are all beautifully preserved, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
I love capturing extended family sessions and thrive on capturing the love and warmth that radiate from these gatherings. The images we create are more than just photographs; they are memories frozen in time that serve as a reminder of the laughter, joy, and love that define a large, loving family like the Adamsons.
